History of the Dutch in Australia

Up one level
Dutch encounters with the continent of Australia took place well before Captain Cook discovered the East coast. In 1606 the VOC ship Duyfken was the first recorded ship to visit the North and the many VOC shipwrecks on the West coast atest to the same. Between the late 16th Century and today, Dutch people came to Australia and made it their home. This section looks at a timeline of events, the highlights of the Australia on the Map project and houses the archival version of the VOC Netherlands Web site.
